Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and closed on Sunday and Monday.
Our Research Library is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Library capacity is limited; scheduled visits are highly recommended. Please call 610-435-1074 between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm to schedule a day and time for your visit. Description:
The Lehigh County Historical Society is one of the largest historical societies in America. Our 30,000- square-foot headquarters museum, the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, is a state-of-the-art climate-controlled facility that houses one of the finest historical research libraries in the state of Pennsylvania. The Heritage Museum includes 6 galleries with more than 13,000 square feet of permanent and rotating exhibits featuring historical artifacts, photographs, and documents from the Society’s collection.
Permanent exhibits include Native Americans of Eastern Pennsylvania: A Diverse & Evolving History, The Life & Legacy of General Harry C. Trexler, and The American Presidency. We also offer a popular series of events, lectures, and programs throughout the year, as well as educational field trips and lesson plans for teachers.
Our Scott Andrew Trexler III Research Library is one of Pennsylvania’s most significant archives. There is a wealth of resource material for the serious and casual historian and the genealogist, including books, maps, newspapers, photographs, oral histories, church and social records, personal and family papers, business documents, and numerous county records.
