Leesport Lock House Foundation

Description:

The Lock House property includes a locktender’s house built around 1840 by the Schuylkill Navigation Company. The house is furnished to represent the time period between 1890 and 1910. The property also includes part of the canal lock. Museum room includes historic artifacts and history of the Schuylkill Navigation Company. The house has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

• Mother’s Day Weekend – Victorian Tea. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m ( by reservation)

• Kids at Work and Play Back in the Day. Family fun day. First Saturday in June. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Redware Pottery Workshop- July and December

• Fall Fling – Last Friday in October. 6 p.m.. Bonfire, Soup and Sandwiches.

• Holiday Open House – Weekend before Thanksgiving. Saturday-10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday 12-3 p.m.

• Christmas Traditions – First Sunday in December 1-5 p.m.

• Year-round programs: Guided Tours at Open House and by appointment.
