Description:
Built in 1758 by the Moravians, the Sun Inn was well known in Colonial times for its excellent food, hospitality, and comfortable accommodations. Many dignitaries of the era traveled to Bethlehem to stay and dine at the inn, including Founding Fathers George Washington and his wife Martha, Alexander Hamilton, and John and Abigail Adams. Several rooms in the first floor museum contain period artifacts, furniture, and reproductions.
Visitors can experience a colonial-era kitchen, a bedroom suite with sitting area, the innkeeper’s desk and Gastube (gathering place) with working fireplace.
Tavern at the Sun Inn:
The Sun Inn also hosts a full-service on-site restaurant with two dining rooms, period-inspired menu, drinks, an authentic atmosphere, and a series of special events.
