Description:
The Boyertown Area Historical Society’s mission is to collect and preserve historically significant items and information from the Boyertown area past while enabling this history to be enjoyed and studied into the Boyertown area future. The society has a dedicated genealogy library, a museum with four permanent exhibits, and a rotating exhibit space. Recently, the historical society has created the “Relic Recovery” metal detecting club which brings a new interactive, educational program to the organization. We also oversee the Boyertown Halloween Parade, a cherished, not-to-be-missed community tradition since 1912.
Bahr’s Mill is a stone mill building built in 1897 to house Jacob Bahr’s (pronounced Bear) woodworking and grist mill business. It is part of a farm complex in the village of Gabelsville, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The mill was home to a linseed oil mill from before 1828 until the 1890s, and woodworking machinery was installed in the early 1870s. Today the mill, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is restored inside and out. Visit our website for information about tours and special events throughout the year, including an on-site archaeology dig.
Join the Boyertown Area Historical Society for Special Events: Not Your Run Of The Mill in June, Tractor Show in September, and Belsnickel Craft Show in November.
