Passport to History Month is a celebration of the places, stories, and community that bring local history to life.
Each weekend in July, participating historic and cultural sites in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding counties will open their doors to the public with free tours, activities, and programs for visitors of all ages. See the schedule for Weekend 2 below:
Participating Historic Sites
1753 Bachmann Publick House
Saturday, July 8 — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visit the 1753 Bachmann Publick House colonial tavern for free tours. Stop by between 11:00 and 12:00 to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse as the Bachmann Players rehearse for Easton’s Heritage Day (on Sunday, July 9).
Asbury Grist Mill – Musconetcong Watershed Association
Saturday, July 8 — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
476 Old Main Street, Asbury, NJ 08802
(approximately 20-minute drive over the bridge from Easton)
Enjoy guided tours of the Mill, including stories and anecdotes of its different uses over the years, and explanations of the different equipment and hardware that has been there for more than a century.
Historic Easton Cemetery
Sunday, July 9 — 12 to 4 p.m.

Join us for history, nature, art, symbolism, and community. Take a walking tour with a docent or speak with gardeners about how they’ve enhanced our grounds. Learn more about our natural environment, the stories of trees, and explore the meanings behind some of the symbols on gravestones. Free, open to the public.
Horner’s Cemetery
Sunday, July 9 only — by appointment only.

Horner’s Cemetery Historical Society is celebrating the 295th anniversary of the founding of Craig’s Scotch-Irish Settlement – the oldest, longest, permanent settlement in the Lehigh Valley – with tours available Sundays between 1 and 4 p.m. (*By appointment only). Meet General Brown, friend of President George Washington. Hear about the gift Washington gave to Brown. Visit with the ancestor of President Roosevelt. The Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania Cultural Center welcomes you to view their exhibit with primary history of the Lenape People in Pennsylvania. There will be docent tours, activities for children, as well as their Trading Post store.
National Canal Museum
Friday, July 7 — 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The National Canal Museum will be open with free admission to the museum and $5 rides on our mule-drawn canal boat (boat rides at 12:00 and 1:30 p.m.). Be sure to visit Coal Country Portraits, a special exhibition that explores the lives of anthracite miners.
Parsons-Taylor House

The Daughters of the American Revolution would like to invite you to an open house of the Parsons-Taylor home during Easton Heritage Day. Docents in period correct attire will be on hand to share tours and tales.
PAZA, Tree of Life at Easton Cemetery

PAZA, Tree of Life is a local non-profit Native American Support Group whose mission and vision is to inspire education, healing and unity for generations to come.
PAZA, Tree of Life Conservation Manager, Robert Christopher will introduce you to some of the oldest trees in Easton. Some of these trees have been around for decades, possibly even centuries … What have they seen? Spoken Word Actor Robert Wood will take us back in history and help you visualize what events these “Living Witnesses” might have seen during a time when our First Nations People lived in harmony with the earth. Native American flute and drumming will accompany participants on their walk.
