Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society

Prior to European settlement the Lenape occupied territory that included Northampton County. The Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society’s Sigal Museum features an exhibition which presents the story of the tribe, their lifestyle, and their relationship with European settlers including with William Penn and the infamous “Walking Purchase”. Exhibition highlights include a lifesize wikewam and the 1758 Treaty of Easton.
