Learn about the Lehigh Valley’s part in the Civil War. Stop at the same places the soldiers visited on their way through Pennsylvania, see a real Civil War cannon, and the view the last resting spot of several Civil War veterans.  Visit these sites:

 

Historic Easton Cemetery

Stop by Historic Easton Cemetery and see a real Civil War cannon. While you are there, learn about the several veterans of war who were buried in the cemetery and visit their last resting place. Historic Easton Cemetery is also in the process of creating a self-guided Civil War Walking Tour for guests to enjoy.

Moravian Historical Society

Those who are interested in the Civil War can make arrangements with the Moravian Historical Society to view its artifacts including uniforms, canteens, kepis, and hard tacks. Visitors can also learn about the Nazareth Hall Military Academy on our Historic Nazareth Walking tour held on the second Saturdays from March-September. Nazareth Hall converted into a military academy in 1862 and many of its students served in the Civil War for both the Union and the Confederacy. The tour includes stops at the cenotaph located in what was the school’s parade grounds and the Parrot Rifle Cannon located in the Center Square.
