Description:

Williams Township, founded 1750, is home to four structures on the National Register of Historic Places – the Coffeetown Grist Mill, Isaac Stout House, Jacob Arndt House, and Camelback Stone Arch Bridge on Durham Rd

To celebrate Passport to History over the past three years, WTHS offered well attended historic self-driving tours, first a general tour of the township starting at Groundhog Lock State Park, second focusing on the Coffeetown area, and third focusing on the Stouts Valley area. The drives took visitors by seven one-room schools, three historic churches, three cemeteries with headstones dating back to earliest settlers, scenic wonders (Hexenkopf Rock), active farms, a former stagecoach inn, site of Mammy Morgan’s tavern, the canal path along the Delaware Canal, and site of the lost village of Uhlersville. The WTHS planners have provided liberating programs to give visitors outdoor drives that combine history and beauty.

This year’s Passport to History program on Saturday, July 15, 12 noon– 4 p.m., featured the current and no longer existing cemeteries of Williams Township, famous burials, and associated churches. (See Events listing.)

Year-round Programs:

Spring meeting, Summer picnic, Fall meeting

All events are released to local media well in advance of their dates as well as in the newsletters and by emails to members and other interested parties.
